Maya Jama warned over Richard E Grant alliance in Traitors

Maya Jama has been warned to "be careful" over her alliance with Richard E Grant in Celebrity Traitors, with a former contestant suggesting the Love Island host could be dragged down by defending him too much.

The 32-year-old presenter was chosen by Claudia Winkleman to become a Traitor alongside Richard, 69, in the first episode of the series, which aired last week. The pair have since recruited comedian James Acaster, and the trio are working together to eliminate the Faithfuls without being detected.

Richard's blunder and Maya's promise

The Faithfuls are already suspecting Richard is a Traitor after his blunder where he admitted to being a Traitor in front of several cast members. He has been trying to save himself by telling the other celebrities he was playing mind games with them.

During a secret meeting in the Traitors Turret, Maya told Richard she would try to deflect any heat coming his way. But Fiona Hughes, chosen by Claudia to become the first-ever Secret Traitor in series four, has shared her thoughts on the current series and offered advice for Maya.

Fiona Hughes' warning

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the Welsh contestant said: "I adore Maya. She is bright, she's beautiful and she's got everything going for her but I think she needs to be careful not to defend Richard too much otherwise he could take her down, not that he'd want to, but that's the way of the game."

The second episode, which aired on Friday (October 2), ended on a cliffhanger as the first roundtable of the series was about to begin. Fans will find out tonight if Richard has managed to convince the group he is not a Traitor.

Fiona's verdict on Richard's defence

Fiona added: "I'd love Richard to get away with it but his defence wasn't brilliant. I think if he said 'look I was just so excited to be here, it was a boob and it backfired on me' but he didn't. He has got some allies in there but I think if he gets away with it it'll be a miracle. I don't feel good about it. He is such a big personality but sometimes being one of the really well known ones isn't going to work in your favour."

Fiona is one of the UK's leading motivational speakers and is represented by Champions Speakers Agency for speaking engagements. The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight (Thursday, October 8) at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
