Maya Jama could be leaving her role as Love Island presenter to focus on new opportunities, according to an expert. Celebrity PR expert Kayley Cornelius, speaking on behalf of Betway, suggests there are revealing indicators that Maya Jama is poised to abandon her role presenting the popular ITV2 programme.
Odds Slashed on Maya Jama's Departure
Following her confirmation as one of the famous faces on the newest series of Celebrity Traitors, Love Island's Maya Jama might be relinquishing her presenting responsibilities sooner than anticipated – with 6/4 odds, reduced from 3/1 from Betway forecasting the star to leave before the close of next year.
Maya started as presenter of Love Island in January 2023, following her takeover from Laura Whitmore. She has been at several other events during Love Island, including the World Cup.
Diminished Involvement Raises Questions
Maya returned to her presenting responsibilities for the most recent series, but viewers have observed her diminished involvement across the programme, prompting some to wonder whether the broadcaster might be discreetly preparing her Love Island departure.
Speaking to Betway, Kayley Cornelius remarked on Maya's absence, and said: "Maya has been conspicuously missing from this year's series of Love Island, and I suspect that's no coincidence."
"She has emerged as one of the programme's most valuable stars, with audiences watching as much for her legendary arrivals and presentation flair as they do for the villa antics themselves, so the choice to dramatically cut her appearances seems significant. Paired with the wealth of offers currently flooding her way, it almost appears as though she might be gently preparing her departure from the programme."
New Ventures Beyond Love Island
According to Kayley, the star has plenty to focus on outside of the show. She continued: "Maya is approaching what could prove the most pivotal period of her career to date as her forthcoming stint on Celebrity Traitors is poised to present her to a completely fresh viewership and solidify her position as one of Britain's most sought-after television figures."
"She's already been busy building a brand that stretches way beyond Love Island, from launching her own collection with Joe & The Juice to landing the leading role in Blossoms' latest music video, while also racking up fashion, entertainment and commercial deals."
Acting Ambitions and Hollywood Prospects
Fans could also see the star appear in Hollywood: "There's also plenty of talk about her acting ambitions, with many expecting her to make the leap into acting with an upcoming feature in the Gentleman this September. It all feels very much like the Maura Higgins playbook as she's using the fame that made her to turn herself into a much bigger name that doesn't depend on one show."
"Her schedule already appears packed before her Celebrity Traitors debut has even aired, and that's only likely to intensify once the series hits screens. While Maya remains hugely popular with Love Island viewers, there are signs she may have reached a point where the show no longer sits at the centre of her career."
Soft Launch for the Next Chapter
"As Love Island continues to battle for the cultural dominance it once enjoyed, this reduced presence feels less like a temporary change and more like a soft launch for whatever comes next. If Maya is preparing to move on, the timing would certainly make sense, and producers may already be quietly preparing for the day she eventually passes the baton to a new host."
