Mark Dolan has announced his exit from TalkTV with immediate effect. The presenter and comedian addressed fans in a video shared on X on Friday, September 25.
Dolan, who hosted the weekend breakfast show from 6am-10am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the last 12 months, described it as "one of the best jobs of my career, if not the best."
YouTube growth and US success
After praising Talk management, the teams behind the scenes, and the audience, Dolan explained the reason behind his departure.
"What's happened is I've seen extraordinary growth in the Mark Dolan Show on YouTube," he said. "We are currently reaching 6.5 million people a month in the United Kingdom, in the Republic of Ireland, across Europe, South Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and our biggest market - by an order of magnitude - the United States. So, the Mark Dolan show has broken America."
He added: "Therefore, whilst I was away in the States doing daily videos for my YouTube channel, all of which were going crazy viral. I realised that this project is going to need my time and energy."
Future plans
Reiterating that he would not be leaving current affairs, Dolan said he would be commentating via The Daily Expresso on YouTube, the sister brand of the Daily Express.
"I will be writing columns for The Daily Express, I will be appearing on Sky News Australia - I've got a regular feature every Sunday night with Paul Murray. And, of course, I'll be appearing on News Max where I'm a regular voice in the United States," he said.
Referring back to his namesake YouTube channel, the presenter declared: "We have a simple goal, which is to be the number one talk show in the world. And YouTube is where it's at."
"I'm a person of huge ambition, and I don't only want the Mark Dolan Show to be the number one show in the world, I want it to be the number one broadcaster in the world. And I'll get there, just watch me," he added.
