The Duke of Sussex has shared a parenting desire that appears closely aligned with the approach of his estranged brother, Prince William. Prince Harry, father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, discussed how he hopes to instil awareness in his children about life's challenges and charitable work across the UK.
Harry's comments at the WellChild Awards
Speaking in a brief interview with Hello! Magazine, Harry revealed a conversation he had with his children that morning about WellChild, the charity for seriously ill children for which he serves as patron. He said: "They were genuinely fascinated and interested in all sorts of questions."
He added: "Look, like with all of my work and their mum's work as well, whatever we can do to try and instill some of that awareness, I think that's absolutely crucial. For all kids."
The comments come after a chaotic month for the family since relocating to the UK in August. Despite challenges involving security and his uncle's book, Harry has stepped out at charity events close to his heart, including the 2026 WellChild Awards, where he gave a speech and met the award winners.
Similarities with Prince William's parenting
Harry's desire to make his children aware of real struggles mirrors how Prince William parents his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. William, who works extensively to combat homelessness, has previously revealed he educates his children on such matters in the same way Princess Diana did for him.
In his documentary Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, the future King admitted he speaks to his children about homelessness on the school run. He explained: "I do think it is really important that you start these conversations when the children are small so they understand the world around them, rather than just living in their own worlds."
While the brothers remain estranged, they appear to share core values when it comes to parenting.
