In an exclusive revelation that has stunned Married At First Sight UK fans, bride Leah Marie Tyrer has confirmed she is no longer on speaking terms with her television wife Leigh Harris after their relationship turned sour following filming.
The Breakdown of a Television Marriage
Despite leaving the E4 experiment appearing to be on good terms, Leah confirms their friendship quickly deteriorated once cameras stopped rolling. "I actually came out of the experiment friendly with her and we said we'd still be friends," Leah reveals. "The reunion was fine, but she's done a few bad things on social media and tried to throw me under the bus for some weird reason."
The final straw came when Leigh made what Leah describes as "tasteless" comments online, leading to their complete communication breakdown. "We don't talk now," Leah states firmly. "I've got no time for her at all. I just find it all a bit tasteless."
Behind-the-Scenes Conflicts and Vaping Disputes
The tensions between the pair extended far beyond what viewers saw on screen, with Leah disclosing they occasionally slept in separate apartments during filming due to unresolved conflicts. The primary source of their arguments? Leigh's persistent vaping habits.
"Sharing a one-bedroom apartment with someone who vapes 24-7 and wants to vape in bed caused a lot of our arguments," Leah explains. "She didn't compromise on that and I'm not a smoker. I did ask for a non-smoking person."
The situation reached breaking point when Leigh would vape directly in Leah's face during early morning hours. "Sitting in bed at 3am and smoking vape in my face - there's an element of disrespect in that," Leah recalls. "I struggled with that more than anything."
Television Turmoil and Future Aspirations
Watching their strained relationship play out on national television proved challenging for Leah, who describes experiencing "a bit of PTSD" while viewing the episodes. "For the first four weeks of the experiment, I was trying so hard but not really getting anywhere," she admits.
Despite the difficulties, Leah has taken valuable lessons from the experience. "It takes its toll on you and you end up losing sight of who you really are," she reflects. "That's no good. I see a lot of people in relationships where the wife or husband has chipped away at the other person... I'll never do that again."
While Leah left the show single, she hints at new romantic developments, coyly stating: "All you need to know is I'm very happy." She also expresses interest in future reality television appearances, specifically naming SAS: Who Dares Wins and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! as potential projects.
Reflecting on her television portrayal, Leah wishes viewers had seen more of her light-hearted personality. "I wish my personality had come through a little bit more because I'm quite light-hearted and I lost that," she says, though she acknowledges the show provided "very fair edits."
The MAFS UK experience wasn't without its rebellious moments either, with Leah confessing to multiple curfew violations and hosting unauthorized parties that required castmates to hide "in the curtains and in the cupboards" when security arrived.
Married at First Sight UK remains available for streaming on Channel 4, though Leah and Leigh's marriage has undoubtedly joined the show's history of failed matches.
