Married At First Sight bride Rebecca 'Bec' Zacharia has hit back at claims she is insecure and putting on a front. Speaking to Daily Mail, the Adelaide socialite, 36, insisted viewers are finally starting to see the real connection between herself and husband Danny Hewitt during Revelations Week.
Bec said the latest instalment marked the first time she felt their relationship had been portrayed fairly on screen. 'I actually felt really good watching Wednesday's episode,' she said. 'For the first time since the series started, you could see that there is a genuine connection between Danny and I.'
Bec admitted she has been frustrated by the way earlier episodes painted her as overly insecure, claiming many positive moments from their honeymoon were left on the cutting room floor. 'I feel like it's been a little bit negative, making me look extremely insecure,' she said. 'But there were so many good moments throughout our honeymoon that weren't shown.'
One of the most talked-about scenes of the episode was Danny dramatically throwing the remaining photos out the window during the Photo Ranking Task after ranking Bec number one. While Bec acknowledged Danny's flair for theatrics, she insisted the gesture felt genuine in the moment. 'We know Danny's a showman, he likes to do big things, but in that moment it didn't feel like a show. It felt like he was taking a stand and saying, 'I have eyes only for you in this experiment.''
However, Bec revealed the move may not have been entirely spontaneous. 'I know he opened the balcony door before we started filming, so he probably already had it planned,' she said. 'He knew it would make me feel positive, but he also knew it would be a big splash.' Behind the scenes, she said the moment was far less polished than what viewers saw. 'That photo actually got stuck to the glass outside and we had to go down with a producer to get it,' she laughed.
As Revelations Week intensified, Bec said tension among the brides reached boiling point, with competitiveness creeping into conversations about whose relationships were real. She confirmed that several brides questioned the authenticity of other couples, including her own marriage to Danny. 'I know Alissa [Faye] had reservations about Danny and I,' she said. 'And Brooke definitely had reservations about a few couples.' Despite being accused of hiding issues, Bec insisted she was simply protecting her relationship. 'People were saying I was hiding things, but I was protecting my marriage at that point,' she said. 'At least Danny and I were authentic enough to say things weren't perfect.'
