Love Island's Trent Woolman near death after bonfire fall

Trent Woolman, a star from series five of Love Island Australia, was airlifted to hospital after falling into a bonfire, leaving him near death. The 28-year-old had to crawl back to his sister's house after being engulfed by flames at her property in Inverleigh, Victoria.

Severe Injuries and Health Complications

Woolman suffered third-degree burns to his arms, mouth, and airways. His family was left terrified when his medical team added that he had cysts on his brain, as well as brain bleeds, and they needed to delay surgery to graft skin onto his arms.

The reality star has been in hospital for two weeks and is expected to stay there for at least a couple more. He told the Daily Mail: "[It's] been traumatic and the worst time of my life".

Accident Details and Recovery

Woolman made it clear that he was sober when he fell into the bonfire. The accident occurred when he was cleaning up a paddock at his sister's property. He was alone at the time and had to crawl back to the house to get help.

He praised his sister for rushing to his aid as soon as she saw him, calling her "amazing" and "so brave", noting that she called an ambulance and stayed calm during the emergency. Though his graft surgeries had to be delayed for several days, he has now had them and must wear bandages on his arms and face, as well as mesh net, to keep the bandages on.

Ongoing Treatment and Future Appearances

Third-degree burns are a serious wound that damages all three layers of your skin and can destroy the nerve endings in the affected areas. It's understood Woolman will now undergo multiple skin grafts, where a piece of unburned skin is surgically removed to cover the burned area. Despite the new skin being unburned, patients can often be left with severe scarring.

This comes just after it was revealed that Woolman would be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming season of Married At First Sight Australia. He was spotted at a filming location, attending the wedding of his Love Island co-star and podcast co-host Zac Nunns, who was paired with TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla for MAFS. In pictures, Woolman could be seen in a white shirt and black suit trousers.

Woolman and Nunns shared a podcast called the Trent and Zac Show, where they spoke about Love Island gossip. Since leaving Love Island, Woolman, who was a tower crane operator, appears to have gone back to his normal life. Though he has over 30,000 followers on Instagram, he made the account private and doesn't seem to be pursuing the influencer lifestyle. Similarly, he has obtained over 20,000 followers on TikTok, but has not posted since late 2025.
