Love Island fans have been left making the same observation after getting a glimpse of the upcoming episode, which sees Finley kissing Elicia on a double date, leaving Ellie 'sick' and 'terrified'. Footage due to be broadcast by ITV as part of the latest edition (July 13) of the channel's reality dating show will see the villa moving forward from the recent surprising elimination of Sean and Lola.
Double date drama unfolds
Priya has a chat with the girls at the Firepit when she gets a text which she announces to the entire group: 'Priya and Ethan, Elicia and Finley, it's time for you to head out for a double date. Please get ready to leave the Villa!' While some Islanders are delighted by the news, others are visibly unimpressed. They're left wondering what the date might spell for their romantic connections. This particularly affects Ellie and Aidan, who found themselves single after bombshells Ethan and Elicia pinched their partners.
Before their departure, Elicia talks preparation with the other girls, reports OK!. She confides in them: 'I need to look sexy... I need this alone time.' In contrast, Ellie stays notably silent, confessing: 'If he sits there and flirts... it's not fair on either of us.' Aidan and Ellie ponder together about being left out. Aidan confesses: 'I feel like we're in the back seat right now,' to which Ellie responds: 'We're not even in the car.'
Kissing at the vineyard
Later, away from the villa, Priya and Ethan along with Elicia and Finley indulge in a romantic double date at a Vineyard. The first look clip posted on Love Island's YouTube page reveals that it doesn't take long for Elicia and Finley's conversation to veer towards kissing. As Elicia reminds him she's only kissed him once, Finley quickly retorts: 'You may be lucky again.' Before adding: 'This Welsh guy is very respectful, but he's willing to open up.' While she confesses: 'I hope you're not on the Daybeds tonight.' Priya spots him as he rises to approach Elicia and kisses her.
Priya forecasts: 'Ellie's going to go mad.' However, her date with Ethan unfolds pretty much the same way as she informs him the 'ban has been lifted'. As they return to the date, Priya's first concern is for Ellie and she tells Yasmin: 'I'm terrified... I feel sick.' Details of the dates are naturally disclosed swiftly, causing Ellie's emotions to overflow once more. She declares: 'He can do what he wants... I am done... he's a f*****g s***ebag!'
Fans react to the preview
Viewers will have to hold their breath to see whether Finley makes a final decision on who he wants to be with. And if Ellie's previous remarks about leaving the villa will materialise. Fans have been quick to respond to the tantalising footage released online. Many have echoed the same sentiment. One fan echoed a common sentiment as they pleaded: 'Ellie I beg you, move on.' Another pondered: 'Imagine if there is an Ellie and Aidan comeback and they win the show.'
However, several others were left wondering why they hadn't witnessed other Islanders enjoying more dates beyond the villa walls. Thus far this series, romantic outings have largely only taken place when fresh bombshells have entered the fray. The sole couple who were treated to a trip out were Sean and Lola. One viewer questioned: 'Where's Simba and Angie, Julia and Lorenzo, Jasmine and Kavan, Tommy and Yasmine, Mica and Samraj's dates?'
Another fan concurred, expressing their belief that more settled couples should also be granted date screen time so audiences can witness their relationships develop. They commented: 'Hmm the dates are looking lowkey boring. Happy for Priya but I'm still not quite sure about this. Sad for Ellie but Finley should be very honest with her. They need to set up dates for Jas/Kav and Yas/Tommy. We need to see some real romance brewing please! Give us the dopamine we need.'
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
