Love Island Australia star Trent Woolman was airlifted to hospital after falling into a bonfire and becoming trapped in the flames while cleaning his sister's countryside property in Inverleigh, Victoria.
The 28-year-old suffered burns to his arms, mouth and airways, and was forced to crawl back to his sister's house after the accident. He has spent two weeks in hospital, where doctors discovered multiple brain bleeds and a cyst on his brain, delaying a surgical skin graft to repair damage to his arms.
Star Recounts Traumatic Accident
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Woolman described the incident as the "worst time" of his life. Images shared with the publication showed him with bandages covering his entire face and forearms.
"I got stuck on the fire and got off and crawled back to the house," he said. "Been in hospital for two weeks and have a couple of weeks to go."
Emergency Response and Medical Care
His sister called an ambulance, with Woolman praising her as "amazing" and "so brave." MICA intensive care paramedics were called, and a helicopter was requested to airlift him to hospital in Melbourne.
Woolman confirmed he was sober at the time of the accident, which he described as "traumatic."
Reality TV Background and Upcoming Appearance
Woolman is best known for starring in the 2023 series of Love Island Australia. Ahead of the show, he confirmed he had a romantic past with season four finalist Phoebe Spiller.
He said in 2023: "I dated… well, not dated, but we were on and off for a couple of years, Phoebe Spiller from last year and I. I thought I was gonna marry that girl, so I was pretty disappointed to see her on the show last year."
He is now set to make a cameo in the new series of Married at First Sight Australia, attending the wedding of his Love Island co-star Zac Nunns, who is paired with TikTok star Vanilla Milla on the reality show.
