Love Is Blind UK's Ryan Sparks Backlash Over 'Unpopular Opinion'
Love Is Blind UK's Ryan Sparks Backlash Over Marriage Comment

A Love Is Blind UK star has come under fire from fans after a "strange" social media comment. Ryan Roberts, an international public speaker, has faced criticism for a post on Instagram in which he shared his views on the show's premise.

Ryan's Controversial Instagram Post

In a clip he shared, the 33-year-old can be seen videoing himself, with text on screen reading: "Unpopular opinion. It's NOT normal to get married after 10 weeks." In his caption, he added: "Not being man enough is going through with something you know isn’t right, even when it’s hard."

He continued: "Find me anyone who’s made a big life decision that hasn’t also impacted someone they cared for. You cant. Does the experiment work? Yes & I’m made up for those who made it. Does it work for everyone? No, and that’s also okay."

Fans React to Ryan's Comments

Viewers at home were unconvinced, with many asking the same question. One person replied: "Then don't go to a show about getting married in 10 weeks." Another commented: "why did you go on the show then lol", as a third said: "You signed up because…???"

A fourth added: "That’s literally the entire premise of the show for a guy who lives his entire life going against what’s “normal”.. seems like a strange comment 2 make. I felt for Cuba watching this season." A fifth said: "Remind us, what was the context of the show you just voluntarily appeared on."

Defenders Speak Out

However, some defended Ryan. One person said: "The amount of trolling Ryan is getting is honestly wild. People seem to forget just how heavily edited and orchestrated reality TV is." They added: "Yes, someone’s feelings may have been hurt, and that’s sad. But can we also have some compassion for the human being who was grieving the loss of someone he loved, while being thrown into an incredibly intense environment with someone he had only just met?"

Another commented: "The way people are making it their whole personality to attack you for not marrying someone you just met is wild behavior."

Previously, Ryan took to social media to address the real reason he appeared on the show, admitting he was approached by producers. The third series of Love Is Blind UK ended last month, with all four married couples revealing they were still together. However, things remained tense between Cuba and Ryan, who admitted they had not spoken since their televised split. Days before their wedding day, Ryan told Cuba he needed "alone time" to decompress upon his return from work, and he later stepped away after the death of a loved one. Love Is Blind UK can be streamed on Netflix.
