Lorraine Kelly warns Harry and Meghan show could be a 'problem'

Lorraine Kelly has warned another Netflix series with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be a "problem". The Sussexes have returned to the UK after spending years in America, having stepped back from their roles as working members of the Royal Family.

Fresh reports now suggest the pair are allegedly preparing to issue an apology to the Royal Family and repair their fractured relationship, following their controversial 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Harry and Meghan made numerous claims.

Lorraine's Sarcastic Response

Discussing the latest speculation on her ITV programme today, showbiz correspondent Lucie Cave remarked: "I've got Meghan and Harry news, I know you're very excited about that." Lorraine responded sarcastically: "Beyond excited, you can tell from my face, you can really tell how excited I am... not," reports the Daily Record.

Returning to the reports of the alleged apology later in the programme, Lorraine stated: "Meghan and Harry could be set to apologise for their famous interview, infamous interview with Oprah back in the day."

Reports of Regret

She continued: "It's all reported, of course, he said, she said, blah, blah, blah, we don't know who it is. But it's interesting that it's even out there."

Lucie responded: "It is, and often people say there's no smoke without fire, but as you said, it is all reported. Lots of newspapers are saying that they're prepared to eat humble pie. I mean, it was quite an astounding interview back in 2021 when they did that Oprah interview. Apparently, since then, they've had a lot of regrets.

"Obviously, they're now living back in the UK. Some critics who are against them have said it's just because they want to be back in the public eye, and obviously, they need to ingratiate themselves back with the family if they're going to do that." She continued, "Are they going to get the invite to Sandringham for Christmas?"

Trust and Reconciliation

Lorraine remarked: "I don't know, I think it's very difficult, even in a family, when trust has gone. Presumably, they're not going to be making another Netflix documentary about life in the Cotswolds, they're not doing that.

"Because that would be difficult, that would be a problem, I think, more for William than anybody else, I would guess. But if they're genuine about it, and that is going to happen, maybe it's baby steps towards a reunion."

Meghan and Harry frequently feature in discussions on Lorraine, with the ITV host previously suggesting last year that the couple's "tough time" with the Royal Family might be "self-inflicted".

Previous Comments on Harry's Troubles

During a discussion with royal correspondent Russell Myers, they addressed Harry and Meghan's presence at the Invictus Games in Canada, with Russell noting: "It looks like they're having a great time. It was the opening ceremony in Vancouver, 40,000 packing into the BC stadium. We saw Harry having a bit of a dance and a jive with some of the competitors.

"The value of Invictus is not underestimated for Harry because he's had a pretty tough time of it with his court cases, with his falling out with the family. This is his baby, this is what he loves to be doing," he added. He proceeded to discuss Harry's dedication to charitable endeavours throughout the turbulent chapter following the couple's departure from royal duties.

Lorraine sharply cut in: "Oh, just a bit. Putting it very mildly. A lot of it is self-inflicted. It has to be said, it really does." She then remarked: "But having said that, this is what they should be doing, this kind of thing."

She went on: "He's like a different person. Concentrating on that and his work in Africa and all the good that they can both do there - fantastic."

Addressing Harry's possible reconciliation with his relatives, Lorraine observed: "You know what families are like. There's a huge, big hoo-ha, and then it all kind of settles down. Time is a great healer, so hopefully, hopefully, all that is tottering along."

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
