Liam Gallagher Says He Turned Down Celebrity Traitors

Liam Gallagher has claimed he turned down a spot on The Celebrity Traitors, saying it was “not my thing”. The Oasis star responded to a social media user who expressed a wish to see him on the hit BBC show, stating: “I’ve been asked it’s not my thing I’m not a celebrity.”

Gallagher's Response and the BBC's Silence

The beloved BBC series, which sees 21 famous faces play the ultimate game of back-stabbing and sleuthing, is back for its second season. The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, sees contestants try to detect the traitors in the group while completing a series of challenges to win funds to contribute towards the prize pot.

If, at the end of the series, at least one traitor is left among the finalists when they collectively decide to end the game, the faithfuls lose out on the money and the traitor or traitors win the full prize. The BBC declined to comment on Gallagher's claim.

Season Premiere Success and Traitor Antics

The second season of the celebrity version launched on Thursday, with the premiere becoming the most watched debut episode of any series of the programme in the UK, with an average of 8.9 million viewers. Richard E Grant revealed his identity as a Traitor within seconds, Ross Kemp is suspicious of everyone and everything, and James Blunt has reverted to his army days and gone full military mode in challenges.

On the second episode, journalist Amol Rajan was murdered by traitors Maya Jama and Grant, while comedian James Acaster was recruited to become the third traitor. Grant found himself under increasing pressure over his earlier admission, with the actor being told by Romesh Ranganathan that he has “forced our hands”. Julie Hesmondhalgh, Hannah Fry and Leigh-Anne Pinnock also faced questioning as the group debated who could be hiding a secret.

Cliffhanger Ending and Next Episode

However, the episode ultimately ended on a cliffhanger when the episode ended before viewers could find out who had been banished from the castle. The Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
