Layton Williams shut down a question about the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing during an appearance on Sunday Brunch, telling hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer: "I can't be saying that now, you know I can't be telling that to you."
Sunday Brunch Appearance
Williams was among the guests on the show, which aired on Sunday, August 16, alongside Al Murray, Danny O'Donoghue, Gareth Malone and Saffron Hocking. Early in the programme, the hosts discussed the solar eclipse and the emergency alert sent to millions of phones in the UK, with Tim admitting he "got really scared" when the alert came through.
Williams, who earned his silver mug for five appearances, revealed he was on FaceTime to his former Strictly partner Nikita Kuzmin when he received the alert, while at Wagamama and about to see Jesus Christ Superstar on stage.
Strictly Question Shut Down
When asked about his own experience on the show, Williams said: "It was amazing. But it's always nice to check in with him and see how it's going. It's getting intense for him now so yeah."
Asked who Kuzmin will be paired with on the upcoming series and whether he knows, Williams immediately declined to answer, adding it was "still early days". Williams appeared on Strictly in 2023, finishing as runner-up with Kuzmin.
New Series Details
The question comes as the new series is due to return to BBC screens in September, with Ellie Taylor announced as the new It Takes Two presenter this week.
Other guests on Sunday Brunch were asked whether they would take part in Strictly. Gareth Malone said he was "trying to create a sense of mystery" about appearing, but noted he is on tour this year, while adding he "wouldn't mind" taking part in the future. Saffron Hocking said it would "be a disaster" and that she would rather appear on MasterChef.
