Cardiff's Gabalfa Interchange reopens after police incident

Police have reopened the A48 at Gabalfa Interchange in Cardiff after a concern for safety incident on Sunday morning. A woman has been taken to a place of safety.

Police response and road closure

South Wales Police officers were called to a report of a concern for safety just after 7am on Sunday, August 16. The incident took place at Gabalfa Interchange on the A48.

The A48 was closed in both directions, and Gabalfa Interchange was closed inbound and outbound from The Aneurin Bevan to St Mark's Church. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

Resolution and thanks

Chief inspector Geraint White said: "A woman has been taken to a place of safety and the A48 has been reopened in both directions. We thank the public for their patience while we worked to bring this to a safe resolution."
