Katie Price is set for her wildest TV challenge yet after being paired with Suella Braverman on Celebrity Handcuffed, where the unlikely duo must live together in chains.
The glamour model and reality TV favourite has signed up for the celebrity edition of Channel 4's Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing, and bosses have given her a particularly unexpected partner.
Living in chains 24/7
Katie has been paired with MP Suella Braverman for the social experiment, which forces celebrity duos with very different backgrounds and views to spend almost every waking moment together. That means the pair won't simply be sharing a house. They will be handcuffed to one another 24/7, meaning they'll have to eat, sleep, live and even shower together while cameras capture their every move.
Filming has now begun, with the celebrities only discovering who they would be chained to when production got underway. The rest of the celebrity pairings are still being kept under wraps.
Unexpected pairing
A source said: “The whole show has been shrouded in secrecy because it is essential that the celebrities had no idea who they would be paired with.”
And Katie and Suella could prove to be one of the show's most unexpected combinations. The source added: “Katie and Suella should prove to be a contentious match but may end up finding common ground. Obviously Katie is known for her outrageous life, whilst former Tory Home Secretary Suella has her own strong opinions too. But they are both mothers and have spoken about juggling a high-profile life with parenthood so may connect on that struggle. Bosses hope it will make great TV and maybe prove transformative for the celebrities too.”
Filming begins
Pictures from the beginning of filming show Katie and Suella already attached to one another as they embark on their strange new adventure. The pair appeared to be in high spirits as they began their journey together, although it remains to be seen how long that good mood will last once they're forced to share every aspect of daily life.
The show is fronted by Jonathan Ross and the first series proved a major hit for Channel 4, pulling in more than two million views for its launch episode on streaming. It was particularly popular among younger viewers, with the programme recording a 140 per cent increase among 16 to 34-year-olds compared with the slot average.
The first series was eventually won by a traditional housewife and a porn star, who managed to navigate the bizarre experience and come out on top.
