Kanye West's two concerts in Russia have been officially cancelled. The rapper, now known as Ye, was due to perform in St Petersburg on 10 and 11 October, but the shows have been axed after weeks of uncertainty.
Venue refusal and confirmation
The uncertainty began when the venue, Gazprom Arena, said it would not host the rapper. Organisers Say Agency have now confirmed the concerts will not go ahead.
In a statement, Say Agency said: “Friends, it is with sincere regret that we inform you that the Ye concerts in Saint Petersburg on the scheduled dates will not be able to take place.”
Statement and next steps
The agency added: “In the near future, we will reach out to you with an official statement regarding the status of the project and future plans.”
Say Agency also expressed gratitude to fans, saying: “Say Agency is very grateful to everyone who has been by our side these past month and a half: supporting us, worrying, and, like us, waiting for these concerts with all their hearts. We remain in touch and continue to work.”
