The second series of The Celebrity Traitors opened on BBC One tonight (October 1), with Julie Hesmondhalgh sharing a starstruck moment with co-star Myha'la before the game began.
The former Coronation Street actress, 56, was the fifth celebrity to arrive at the church where contestants gathered before entering Ardross Castle. Seated on the far side of the room, she rose and dashed across the aisle when American actress Myha'la, 30, made her entrance.
Julie's confession to Myha'la
Julie immediately lavished the Industry actress with compliments, revealing she had recently binge-watched all of the BBC drama. "It's lovely to meet you, I'm such a big fan Myha'la," she gushed. "I've just watched all of Industry."
"Thank you," Myha'la giggled, "Oh my God."
Game strategy revealed
In a separate segment, Julie discussed her approach to the game, admitting: "I think that playing characters like I've played for many years - because I'm always goodies - could definitely stand me in good stead in the game."
"But, I do get a little bit starstruck and I do get a little bit hungry for friendship with people that I know off the telly, so I'm hoping that I can really, really pull that bit of myself back."
The 'goodies' she referenced include her cherished role as Hayley Cropper on Coronation Street, which she played from 1998 to 2014. Her other television credits include Mr Bates vs The Post Office, The Pack, Broadchurch and Cucumber.
The Celebrity Traitors continues tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
