Celebrity Traitors: Joe Lycett Banished as Fans React
Joe Lycett Banished from Celebrity Traitors Castle

Joe Lycett was forced to leave the Celebrity Traitors castle on Friday night (October 16), after receiving the most votes at the roundtable. The comedian's exit came after a tense discussion in which he accidentally revealed a crucial detail about the Traitors' recruitment strategy.

Roundtable Drama Unfolds

During the roundtable, Joe said: "Let's say [the Traitors] were down to two last night and they recruited. There's so much heat on me for what I was doing last night that there's a good chance I'll go tonight, which means that they'll then have to recruit again tonight, denying them a murder."

James Blunt quickly pointed out Joe's blunder, saying: "I'm sorry, I thought maybe I completely misheard you. I thought you said, 'If you banish me tonight, they'll have to recruit another person tomorrow.'"

The group was left stunned after Joe revealed that he was, in fact, a Faithful. "No!" they could be heard screaming, as Joe walked away from the roundtable for the final time. Miranda Hart was later seen crying, after bonding with Joe during the game.

Fans React to Joe's Exit

Viewers were quick to share their frustration after Joe's exit, with one person writing on X: "Joe Lycett did this all to himself, he did not need help from anyone else. Utterly baffling."

Another added: "Faithfuls are as bad as the Traitors in season 2. Why are the Faithfuls slipping up like the girl who winked, Joe Lycett last minute slip up about 'recruitment' and Joanne saying the tombs were horrible." A third said: "I'm sobbing!"

Someone else commented: "This is a big loss to the show. Joe Lycett brought what Alan Carr brought last year... laughter! Farewell Joe." A fifth viewer said: "I'M SO MAD, NOT JOE."

Previous Castle Exits

Joe's departure follows a series of other exits. Richard E. Grant was the first to be banished, after he accidentally confessed to being a Traitor on the first night. He was replaced by Professor Hannah Fry, who instantly sparked suspicion. Hannah's time in the castle came to an end on Thursday (October 15), when she received the most votes at the roundtable.

Maya Jama and James Acaster, the original Traitors, then recruited content creator King Kenny to join their ranks. On Friday, the remaining celebrities learned that there hadn't been a murder the night before, with Joe Lycett instantly thinking he would have a "tough day" after repeatedly asking to be recruited in front of the group. Joanne McNally also faced questioning following her blunder at the previous roundtable.

Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
