Brothers Robert and David Nicholson, who run Cannon Hall Farm in Yorkshire, have revealed that celebrity chef James Martin enforces a strict rule when cooking on his ITV show, James Martin's Saturday Morning.
Appearing on their own podcast, The Cannon Hall Farm Podcast, the farmers recalled meeting Martin in the barbecue area of the set. They described him as a 'gentleman' and a 'walking advert for the dairy industry'.
Robert explained that once Martin starts cooking, he does not want to be interrupted. 'He didn't want to have to stop, start or put the cream back in. Once you're cooking, you are cooking,' Robert said.
The Nicholsons are regulars on Channel 5's Springtime on the Farm and The Yorkshire Vet. They appeared on Martin's programme in 2025.
In other news, Martin recently spoke about a note his father gave him when he left home at 16 to work in London. He told the Routes podcast that his father, who struggled to show affection, shook his hand and passed him a rolled-up note containing £20 and the words: 'I'll see you in two years.'
