ITV axes Nobody's Fool after one season in blow to stars

ITV has officially axed its latest reality quiz show, Nobody's Fool. The show, which launched in May, was co-hosted by Emily Atack and Danny Dyer.

The show features 10 contestants from across the UK, who are selected to stay in a unique and mischievous Smart House, where they take part in a major game of deception. Throughout the series, the cast tried to convince one another that they were more intelligent than they actually were. The players took on daily challenges and quizzes to help them build up the prize pot.

No immediate plans for a second season

Now, ITV bosses have said that there are "no immediate plans" for a second season of the primetime quiz show. Speaking on the show's axing: "It’s disappointing for Emily, but the news will give fans fresh hope she could now take part in filming for the third Inbetweeners movie."

The insider told The Sun: "They’ve been delighted by the fact the original four leads have signed up to resume their roles, but she’s also a hugely important character to devotees. Now they’ll be hoping that clearing some of her diary will give her the chance to be a part of what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting events for comedy fans this year."

Viewer figures and star reactions

At one point, it averaged 739,000 viewers, despite being aired in a Saturday night prime-time slot. This comes as a huge blow, as ahead of the series, the presenters shared their excitement about the Nobody's Fool, as Danny said: "This is a blinder of a game show, and unlike anything I've seen before."

He added: "Emily and I had a brilliant time making it, and much like the audience at home will be, we were kept guessing right until the very end."

As co-host Emily Atack said: "It's so exciting to be part of something this new and fresh. The chance to work with Danny again was a no-brainer for me. We had such a laugh. Can't wait for everyone to watch, it's an absolute must-see."

Stars expected to return in other roles

Although Nobody's Fool has ended, Danny and Emily are expected to return to screens as Freddie Jones and Sarah Stratton in their roles for the confirmed third season of The Rivals.
