Graham Foster has departed Emmerdale following an ultimatum to Joe Tate, with spoilers confirming his exit airs this week. The question remains whether actor Andrew Scarborough has left the role for good or if the character will return.
In Wednesday's episode, Graham begged Joe to reconsider having his baby son adopted. Joe, grieving the loss of partner Dawn Taylor who died shortly after giving birth, blamed the baby for her death and pushed forward with the adoption plan despite pleas from Graham and Kim Tate.
Graham's ultimatum and exit
Graham told Joe that if he went ahead with the adoption, he would leave his life forever. Fans hoped Joe would listen, but Thursday's spoilers confirm he does not. Instead, Joe heads to Home Farm with baby Tate and Graham, leading Kim to believe he has changed his mind. She is wrong.
Joe confirms he has brought the baby home for everyone to say their goodbyes. Kim is distraught but Joe ignores her pleas. Graham then announces that as a result of Joe's decision, he is leaving the village for good.
Departure and uncertainty
Graham departs, telling Kim that Joe needs her more than ever now as he leaves for good with baby Tate. Spoilers for next week reveal Graham is not back, and Home Farm feels quiet and empty after his departure.
Neither the actor nor the soap has confirmed whether the exit is permanent or temporary. For now, fans will have to wait and see whether Graham returns to the Dales.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
