Fans of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! have been left seething after a technical glitch with the official ITV app prevented them from voting during the show's debut episode on Sunday, November 17.
App Malfunction Sparks Viewer Fury
Shortly after the new series kicked off, viewers took to social media platform X to voice their anger after encountering persistent issues with the voting function on the ITV app. Many branded the situation a 'fix' after being locked out of the process to choose the first Bushtucker trial of the series.
One frustrated fan wrote: "I'm a celebrity is a fix. Can't vote cos the app doesn't work." Another complained: "Would be nice if they sorted this app out, it didn't work for a lot of people and we weren't able to vote." A third user directly questioned the platform, asking: "Is anyone having issues with the voting app? Why isn't it letting me vote??"
A Dramatic Start Down Under
The voting chaos overshadowed a dramatic premiere for the celebrities, who were immediately thrown into challenges. The episode began with five of the stars – Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp, model Kelly Brook, rapper Aitch, comedian Eddie Kadi, and former EastEnders star Shona McGarty – skydiving from a helicopter over a Australian beach.
Upon landing, the group was tasked with entering a wooden structure and wading through offal and slime to find a key fob. Success would grant them access to a getaway car headed for the main camp. Aitch (real name Harrison Armstrong) and Eddie Kadi triumphed, earning themselves a ride complete with cocktails.
The remaining three celebrities from the skydiving group were relegated to the 'Cockie van', a vehicle topped with a giant beetle structure.
The Villa Battle and Camp Arrival
Meanwhile, the other five campmates – comedian Ruby Wax, social media star Morgan Burtwistle (known as Angryginge), soap star Lisa Riley, TV presenter Jack Osbourne, and sports broadcaster Alex Scott – had a different start. They arrived at a luxury villa where they competed for a seat in the getaway car.
This challenge involved having their heads placed in boxes filled with snakes and putting their hands into a box of green ants to unscrew bolts and release a key fob. Jack Osbourne and Morgan Burtwistle emerged victorious, securing the coveted car seats.
This left Kelly Brook, Martin Kemp, Shona McGarty, Lisa Riley, Ruby Wax, and Alex Scott to travel to the camp in the Cockie van alongside show favourite Kiosk Kev.
After the entire group was united at the campsite, Jack Osbourne cooked a steak dinner with mushrooms and avocado for Eddie, Aitch, and Angryginge. The less fortunate campmates were given emu neck to eat.
The First Trial is Set
Despite the voting issues, the first Bushtucker trial was confirmed. Hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly informed the campmates that the challenge would take place at a 'revolting restaurant' called The Divey.
They revealed that Ruby Wax and Morgan 'Angryginge' Burtwistle will be the first celebrities to face a dreaded eating challenge on this year's series.
I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs daily at 9pm on ITV1.
