Calum, one half of the Glasgow duo on Gogglebox, has confirmed he is leaving the Channel 4 series after just one year. The star, who joined the show with his friend Jake in September 2025, has moved to Australia with his partner.
In a statement, Calum reflected on his "wonderful" experience on the programme, adding that he "can't sing the praises enough of everyone on and off camera... It's very bittersweet to be leaving." He went on to confirm that he remains close friends with Jake, and that the pair have asked their friend Louis to take over Calum's role on the show.
Calum's farewell and Louis's debut
Calum assured fans: "You're in very good hands with the two of them," reports the Mirror. He concluded: "I am very, very proud to have been part of the Gogglebox family, but for now I will be watching alongside all of you from my sofa in Australia!"
Louis will make his debut during the latest episode of Gogglebox, airing at 9pm on Friday, September 11. He will join Jake on the sofa to share his opinions on the latest TV shows and films, with cameras set to capture his instant reactions and lively discussions prompted by the week's biggest and best shows.
Louis on joining the show
"Gogglebox has always been a bit of a comfort show for me, so when the opportunity came up to join one of my best mates on the sofa, I thought why not!" Louis said. "I'm most looking forward to sitting down together, having a laugh and doing what we do anyway!"
Louis, who is also from Glasgow, then revealed his dream Gogglebox co-star, saying: "As someone who loves a cooking show, I'd have to say Matt Tebbutt. He seems like a good laugh, could teach me a few things and importantly, whip us up something to eat afterwards!" He concluded by sharing his go-to snacks while watching TV: "It's got to be sweet and salty popcorn, with specifically cold chocolate buttons or Minstrels mixed in... 100%!"
New families on Gogglebox
Gogglebox returned to screens last week (Friday, September 3), with two new families making their debut. Newcastle brothers Steve and Mark, and mother-and-son duo Sandy and Max left viewers saying the same thing.
"Go Max and Sandy! Lovely friends of mine, knocking it out of the #Gogglebox park," one person wrote on X. Another commented: "Really like Max #gogglebox." A third said: "This was the first time I've ever instantly loved a new family on #gogglebox smiled from ear to ear with Max. How lovely." Someone else echoed the sentiment, saying: "Absolutely L-O-V-E Sandy and Max #Gogglebox," while others said they were left laughing "in a good way" after watching the newcomers.
Gogglebox is available to stream on Channel 4.
