Gethin Jones has confirmed his return to a beloved TV show and fans are thrilled. The Welsh star has been a staple on screens for years, with stints on Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef keeping him busy.
Earlier this year, he announced he and Morning Live co-star Helen Skelton were taking a break from the BBC show over the summer. However, on Monday, August 31, Gethin was back on the programme, leaving fans delighted.
BBC Breakfast hosts check in
While on BBC Breakfast, hosts Emma Vardy and Roger Johnson checked in on Gethin and Helen on Morning Live to update viewers on what was coming up on that programme. "Have you had a nice summer break?" Roger enquired.
Gethin responded: "It's been alright! We've missed you though, it is nice to see everyone and be back with you for sure." Roger stated: "It's lovely to have you back."
Emma then cheekily teased: "You need to dust off that sofa! This sofa has been in use all summer long." Gethin made a show of dusting down the sofa as he joked: "Look at that Emma, yeah you're right! We'll get that sorted," while Helen then feigned a cough.
Fans react to Morning Live's return
Reacting to Morning Live's return, one person said on social media: "Ah, always good to see you two." A second penned: "Yay you're back!" A third chimed in: "Welcome back my faves." A fourth wrote: "Glad to see you back. It's the only program I watch."
While Gethin took a break from Morning Live over the summer, he bagged a new job to keep him busy. In July, he announced he will be the Chef de Mission for the Welsh team as they took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The presenter had been preparing for this role for over a year. He undertook a Master's degree in Sports Directorship last year alongside his presenting. His job will be to lead the team operations, logistics and media relations, as well as making sure the team are doing well and morale is high.
BBC Breakfast airs Monday to Sunday from 6am on BBC One.
