Five Things We Learnt from New Celebrity Traitors Trailer

The new trailer for Celebrity Traitors has dropped, revealing 21 well-known personalities set to compete in the ultimate game of deception. The BBC show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, returns to the Scottish Highlands for a second season expected this autumn.

Star-Studded Line-Up Revealed

The trailer, released on Thursday (August 27), shows the full cast together for the first time. Joining Claudia are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.

Fans quickly took to social media to share their excitement. One X user said: "New trailer for The Celebrity Traitors has just dropped. We knew the line-up was good but seeing them all together is a reminder of just how good the bookers are." Another added: "The cast is absolutely ridiculous this year. I genuinely cannot wait for the shenanigans."

Comedy Guaranteed

The trailer showcased several comedians in the cast, including Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, James Acaster, Joe Lycett and Miranda Hart. Fans expect Ranganathan to bring his deadpan humour, with one fan calling him an "incredible asset." Another fan said of Beckett: "Please don’t kill Rob Beckett." An Instagram user commented: "I cannot wait to watch Miranda."

Funeral Scene Sparks Murder Theories

The teaser is set in what looks like a funeral, with celebrities seated on church pews as Claudia asks for "a moment of silence." A floral arrangement reading "RIP VIP" suggests a celeb may be murdered in the first episode, or it could hint at multiple murders throughout the series.

The BBC Director of Entertainment teased the series at Edinburgh’s TV Festival, saying: "The thing about this season is things happen that you didn't think could happen on Traitors, that you have never seen before. I came from working on the US version, and it just shows how many surprises this show can deliver. I can't stop thinking about it. The paranoia is off the scale. I really wanted to step in and go, 'no one is actually being murdered'. I don't want to give too much away, but there are tears in this series. I don't think that I thought there would be this many surprises in this season… but there are."

Fans Spot a Possible Traitor

Some viewers believe they've identified a Traitor from the trailer. One X user noted: "The cut to Bella Ramsey as they’re smirking. Isn’t that the sound that gets played when there’s a cut to a traitor?" Another added: "Exactly this, I think [they] might be the 'young person' pick and then one of the comedians (I hope not Rob or Romesh) and one of the other women." A third said: "I thought that too. Given everyone is serious but [they] has a smirk on [their] face."

Release Date Speculation

Last year's season aired from Wednesday, October 8 to Thursday, November 6. Based on that schedule, the new series could arrive in just over two months. Celebrity Traitors will return later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
