Emmerdale's Lydia heartbroken as Kim refuses to help Samson

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) is left distraught in Emmerdale after realising Kim Tate (Claire King) has no intention of helping her stepson Samson (Sam Hall) as he returns to the village following his prison sentence.

Samson was imprisoned for falsely accusing Matty (Ash Palmisciano) of stabbing him, which led to Matty being sent to jail. His return home has already sparked tension with Moira (Natalie J Robb), who has expressed disgust that Samson is coming back to the family home.

Lydia's hopes raised and dashed

Lydia, desperate for Samson to reintegrate, shares her concerns with Kim, believing her best friend has a solution by offering him a job. Lydia is thrilled at the prospect, seeing it as a huge relief that Samson could begin to have some semblance of a normal life and bring home a wage, knowing very few other people would hire him with his record.

However, Lydia is crushed to realise she has got the wrong end of the stick. She and Kim were talking at crossed purposes, and Kim has no intention of supporting Samson's reintegration.

Sam steps in

Lydia is gutted at the lack of support from her friend and hurt that the woman she'd do anything for won't do this one thing to help. Sam Dingle (James Hooton) is also gutted and pours all his energy into finding Samson a job as quickly as he can.

The question remains whether there is too much water under the bridge for Samson to be accepted back into the village.
