Emmerdale's Dawn Taylor was killed off on Sunday night's episode of the ITV soap, and star Olivia Bromley has opened up about her heartbreaking exit. Dawn died just moments after giving birth, as a sudden hemorrhage caused her heart to stop.
The character had been rushed to hospital after Jimmy King crashed his car into Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor's wedding marquee, where it exploded. As a result of the crash and explosion, Dawn gave birth months earlier than planned and welcomed a baby boy.
Emotional farewell video
After her exit and death were confirmed, Emmerdale released an emotional video featuring Dawn star Olivia, 30, and Joe star Ned Porteous. In the clip, Ned, 32, said: "Liv, it's very sad to see you go," with an emotional Olivia appearing to fight back tears as she replied: "Aww!"
Ned continued: "I've really enjoyed working with you all over this time." A moved Olivia responded: "Aww, same, same, same, thank you," with Ned adding: "You've played an amazing character, it's been a real joy. Have you got any last words?"
Olivia reflects on Dawn's journey
Olivia reflected: "Yeah, well, I've just absolutely loved playing Dawn. She's grown up as a character. I mean, who would have thought she came in, you know, with, like, this drug problem, and she was homeless, and she ended up in the big house [Home Farm]."
She added: "I have to say, I'm just going to miss everybody, everybody here so much, but also, thank you all so much for watching and supporting us. And keep watching, because there's going to be some big drama coming for this one [Ned, who plays Joe], now. The repercussions are going to be pretty big."
Joe twist teased
Ned then confirmed the upcoming scenes, teasing: "Oh yeah, he's not going to take this well. So tune in!"
Soap watchers will recall that Dawn first joined the village back in 2018. Dawn's father, Will Taylor, played by Dean Andrews, was also killed off the ITV soap back in 2024. Emmerdale airs weekdays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
