Emmerdale spoilers for next week reveal a turbulent time in the village as Jimmy King's funeral approaches, with Nicola uncovering potentially explosive evidence on his laptop. Meanwhile, Charity Dingle returns from prison, and Gabby Thomas begins her recovery from orthorexia after a hospital dash.
Nicola's discovery and Sadie's anxiety
Nicola prepares for Jimmy's funeral, still hurt by his betrayal, and asks Charles to deliver the eulogy. Carl finds a mysterious key in Jimmy's belongings from the scrapyard but is upset that Jimmy won't be there for his birthday tomorrow. Sadie hears that Nicola has found backed-up voicemails on Jimmy's laptop and is privately anxious.
On Thursday, Nicola gets a call from Hotten Golf Club, and Manpreet recognises the key as the one for Jimmy's locker there. Sadie grabs Robert to rush to where they think Jimmy's money is stashed, but they are forced to hide when Rodney and Nicola walk in. On Friday, when Carl panics over losing the memorial presentation he made for Jimmy, Nicola logs onto the laptop to help, finds the voicemails, and she and Laurel listen to them.
Charity's unexpected release
Charity is staggered when a prison guard tells her she's going home on Wednesday. She is uneasy when Sarah isn't there to meet her with the rest of the family. Charity asks Sarah for a word in the backroom, and all wait with bated breath. Earlier, on Monday, Charity is thrown when Serena visits her in prison and surprised when she wants to talk about Sarah. In the village, Thea tries to talk Sarah out of her blackmail plan, but Sarah appears immovable. Thea catches up with Serena for an update, and it is all a disaster, so Thea needs a new plan.
Gabby's health crisis
Manpreet catches up with Liam regarding her concerns over Gabby, explaining she thinks she has orthorexia and is determined to help her. Laurel is troubled when Manpreet chats to her about Gabby's recent social media posts. When Laurel heads to speak to Gabby, she can't find her – unbeknownst to Laurel, Gabby is having a full-blown panic attack on the floor behind the counter at the Hide.
On Wednesday, Laurel is shocked to find Gabby on the floor and tries to establish what brought on the panic attack. Suddenly Gabby collapses, and Laurel calls an ambulance. Waking in the hospital a little while later, Gabby gives Manpreet permission to tell Laurel about her orthorexia. Gabby is emotional but seemingly ready to make the first steps towards recovery with Laurel and Manpreet's support. When Billy learns about Gabby, he is apologetic for not spotting the signs earlier.
Funeral revelations
On Friday, the villagers gather in the church, and Sadie makes herself comfortable with a front-row seat. As the funeral begins, Charles delivers an impersonal speech, so Nicola halts him and decides to make a speech herself. Meanwhile, Jacob and Sarah make a decision, while Billy offers to visit Gabby in the hospital. Carl puts on a brave face through his birthday celebrations, whilst Sadie tells Robert about the voicemails and he urges her to deal with it. Soon, shady Sadie is on a mission to sneak in and delete them, but Rodney walks in and she is forced to cover her tracks.
