Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor are seen bonding over their newborn son in a new Emmerdale spoiler video, just days after the wedding-day explosion that killed Jimmy King. The couple, played by Ned Porteous and Olivia Bromley, appear to reunite as they reflect on surviving the disaster.
Wedding Day Betrayal and Explosion
Dawn had planned to jilt Joe at the altar and flee to Spain with her ex-husband Billy Fletcher and their unborn baby. She believed Joe was the mystery attacker who jumped Billy from behind in a jealous rage, causing a brain bleed. Joe, known for his jealous streak, had also previously stolen Caleb Milligan's kidney.
With help from Ruby Fox-Miligan, Caleb agreed to provide fake passports for Dawn and Billy's escape. It was Caleb's ultimate revenge: breaking his enemy's heart on his wedding day. The plan worked too well. Joe realised Dawn's betrayal, and as she begged for forgiveness, Jimmy King's car ploughed into the marquee, causing devastation. Jimmy died next to his wife Nicola King.
Survival and a New Beginning
Nicola and Dawn escaped, but Joe remained trapped until the tent exploded. Against all odds, he survived. After being rushed to hospital, Dawn went into labour and gave birth to their son, who now rests in an incubator.
In the video, Joe insists on alone time with Dawn and reflects on their journey from the explosion to this moment. 'We are the lucky ones,' Joe says. 'We owe it to Jimmy to make this work. You and me. That's our future in there. And he needs us to be spectacular. We are going to surround him with so much safety and so much love.'
Guilt and Uncertain Future
Dawn, gazing at the baby, is filled with guilt. 'I am just so sorry I thought I could ever take that away from you,' she says. The couple seem reunited, but with Olivia Bromley's exit imminent, that may not last. The question remains: does Dawn have a change of heart, or is tragedy making another trip to the Dales?
