Emmerdale viewers are fearing for Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) after she refused to take medication for a worsening health issue. The character, who has been battling a secret illness, developed a nasty cough and was prescribed antibiotics for bacterial bronchitis by GP Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), but chose not to take them.
Gabby's health deteriorates
Gabby has been avoiding food she deems unhealthy, leading to a collapse at Home Farm after not eating enough to stay conscious. A visit to the GP was overshadowed by a possible pregnancy scare, which sparked rumours among villagers.
Manpreet suggested a pregnancy test because Gabby was not using contraception while seeing Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), horrifying his ex-wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley), who feared Gabby might be trying to get pregnant deliberately.
Refusal to take medication
On Monday (September 28), Gabby's condition worsened, and she developed a cough that pointed to a struggling immune system. After Manpreet prescribed antibiotics, Gabby was seen coughing and struggling to breathe while researching conspiracy theories about the medication online. She ultimately decided to ditch the tablets.
Her clean-eating fixation has also begun to dominate her life, even changing menus at the Hide to reflect her obsession.

Viewers have taken to X to share their concerns. One wrote: "Prepares a hospital bed and an ambulance for Gabby as she may well be needing it in the near future. #Emmerdale."
Another added: "Ooops! Gabby in #Emmerdale is going to end up with pneumonia or worse. Another one in the hospital…." A third said: "Since when has Gabby had an anti-meds policy? News to me #Emmerdale."
