Emmerdale viewers are convinced Vinny Dingle is not to blame for the fatal crash that killed Jimmy King and Dawn Fletcher, with many pointing the finger at Caleb Miligan instead. The theory comes as Vinny faces court after being arrested for causing the accident.
Vinny's confession and arrest
Vinny's future in the village remains uncertain as he faces the law following the crash that left Jimmy King and Dawn Fletcher dead. Last month, Dawn met a tragic end when Jimmy was accidentally run off the road by Vinny and crashed his car through the marquee where she was set to marry Joe Tate. Hours after the incident, Dawn died in hospital, just hours after welcoming her baby into the world, leaving Joe devastated and on the warpath.
On the day of Dawn's funeral, Joe nearly killed Ruby Miligan when he buried her alive in a bid to teach Caleb a lesson, after blaming him for interfering with his wedding day. He also pointed the finger at Dawn's Billy Fletcher after he tried to win her back. However, Joe was left floored when Vinny arrived at Home Farm and admitted to his role in Dawn's death before Billy attacked him.
Village secret exposed
Vinny's big secret was exposed to the village, much to the devastation of his boyfriend Lewis Barton, his mother Mandy, and Jimmy's widow Nicola. During Thursday's trip to the village, Vinny was arrested for causing the car crash and must appear in court.
Fan theory points to Caleb
Emmerdale viewers are convinced Vinny wasn't the cause of Jimmy's fatal accident, and instead blame Caleb. Earlier this year, Caleb sold dodgy products from his depot, and viewers saw Jimmy buying goods, including a bold puffer jacket. Fans are now suggesting Jimmy bought knock-off car parts from Caleb, which explains why he failed to brake in time to avoid crashing into the marquee.
Taking to Facebook, one eagle-eyed viewer wrote: "It will be dodgy brakes he had fitted that Caleb sold", as another agreed: "That's what I thought when it happened." A third chimed in: "I think Jimmy's brakes were tampered with," while another pointed out: "Jimmy had his car in the garage, I'm sure," before adding: "It is the mis-sold tags on car parts from the factory, I think."
"I thought this all along, as we did not see Jimmy go swerving off into a field in Vinny's rear view mirror or any sign of the Marquee around that area," admitted one fan. "I think he had a near miss with Vinny and something else caused him to career off the road into the Marquee, especially as he does not seem to apply any brakes", added another.
Pointing out Jimmy's delayed response to the crash, one person asked: "I didn't get why Jimmy couldn't stop or steer away from the marquee, given he's an experienced driver." Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
