A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry knew everything about Earl Charles Spencer’s book before it hit the shelves this week. On Tuesday, Princess Diana’s brother celebrated the release of his controversial book “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister”. While the release of a book is supposed to be a time of celebration, the controversy caused by the book and its contents has sparked a lot of anger.
Expert's claim about Harry's knowledge
Charles Spencer has since claimed that the book was solely his work, and that he only told family members such as Prince Harry when it was confirmed to be released. However, one royal expert thinks that Harry “of course” knew a lot about the book and its claims, including those about King Charles, Harry’s father.
Speaking to TalkTV about whether Harry knew more about the book than has been let on, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “Of course he did. It’s perfectly obvious, at least in my view, because it seems normal that you would time a book of this sort 30 years say, 29 years, after the person had died.

“It just so happened that Harry and Meghan of course very recently have come over permanently supposedly, and of course we know they visited Earl Spencer at Althorp when they were here last. It makes perfect sense because not only are the Sussexes in a very, very poor place when it comes to the Royal Family, and certainly for William, but of course the Spencers and Windsors are hardly close.”
Prince Harry, who made some public appearances this week, has avoided answering any questions about his uncle’s book. Charles Spencer has, however, said that he told Prince Harry and Prince William about the book at the same time as he told his sisters. He said on ITV’s Lorraine that he only told his wife about the book as he wanted it to be a solo project.
He said: “I didn't talk about the book to anyone apart from my wife. I decided to take full responsibility for what I wanted to share. I told both William and Harry, and my sisters, earlier on the day it was released that the book was coming out. It wasn’t a book by committee, it was a book that I wanted to write.”
