Dick and Angel Strawbridge have said they are "delighted" to announce the return of their beloved Channel 4 programme Escape to the Chateau. The show, which followed the couple and their family as they renovated an abandoned French estate, was thought to have ended with a final series in 2022, but is making an unexpected return for series 10 later this year.
Christmas Special Confirmed
In a new interview with Country and Town House, Angel confirmed: "We will return to UK screens this year. What we do have is a Christmas Special attached to it – we finished filming around Christmas and it felt rude not to do one. So the series may sit until later in the year to tie in with the Christmas Special."
Children More Involved
Angel added that the children will be "more involved" in the upcoming series. Dick agreed, saying: "Every year, we decide what to do next, and for the last five or six years we’ve included the children in that conversation. Series 10 existed because there was such big change within the family – Arthur is a young man now, Dorothy’s a young woman. But those changes haven’t quite finished, so we made the decision that Series 11 would follow from 10, because there are more things we’ve started in 10 that still need to be completed."
He continued: "Next year we’ll make the decision about what follows. What we always make sure of is that we protect the family time. We’ve really got a certain number of years to enjoy the children in the way we do now, and that’s our number one priority."

The TV stars said in a social media post at the end of last year: "We are delighted to announce that we are officially back in production for Escape to the Chateau, Series 10! It’s been wonderful welcoming back our Escape filming family — the unsung heroes behind the cameras."
Explaining why they are back, the couple said that they feel that the time is right for their family to return to the limelight. They said: "Now, as a family, we’ve stepped into a new era. With Arthur and Dorothy happily settled into college, Series 10 brings more change and growth than the Chateau has ever seen! We promised that when the time was right for our family, we’d invite the cameras back in to give you an update — and maybe even a Christmas Special… and that time is now! Thank you for being part of our story — we can’t wait to share this next magical chapter with you."
