Cruz Beckham appeared to take a swipe at his estranged brother Brooklyn’s widely mocked cooking career, in the latest twist in their family feud that saw Brooklyn hit out at his “controlling” parents.
Things have been tense between the family, after eldest son Brooklyn, 27, set fire to his relationship with dad David, 51, and mum Victoria, 52, in which he criticised them for prioritising “Brand Beckham” and said that he had no intention to “reconcile” with them.
Cookery video sparks fan speculation
The youngest Beckham son, Cruz, has remained on his parents’ side throughout, with a recent cookery video being branded a “dig” by fans at his brother’s attempted cookery career.
The 21-year-old, who is currently touring the US with his band Cruz Beckham and the Breakers, shared a clip to TikTok of himself cracking an egg into a pan to fry.
After getting a bit of shell in the pan, Cruz stopped to fish it out, captioning the video: “The shell is the best part [shrug emoji].”
Fans react to the video
In the comment section, TikTok users were quick to question whether Cruz’s video was intended as a dig at Brooklyn, who regularly shares his cookery content online and recently left fans baffled by a video in which he cooked pasta on a yacht in sea water.
The top comment on Cruz’s video read: “Think he’s making a point,” while another joked: “Shots fired from Cruz.”
“It took me a minute, but this has to be a dig. The cooking and the song lyrics,” another fan wrote, in reference to the audio of Cruz’s song “Wear & Tear”, which featured the lyrics: “I wanna wear you down.”
Lyrics and family feud
It’s not the first time fans have believed Cruz’s lyrics to be about Brooklyn.
Earlier this year, The Breakers released their song “Loneliest Boy”, which features the lyrics: “Loneliest boy, place all your bets on him / To find something bad in somebody good, he always does / Loneliest boy, I hope that you’re listening / Don’t push all your friends away, when we’re tryna show you love.”
Performing the song at a sold-out London gig in March, Cruz grew emotional while playing the song in front of his parents and brother Romeo, 23.
Background of the feud
It’s been over a year since first reports of a feud between Brooklyn and his remaining family members emerged, with Cruz eventually weighing in after it was suggested that they had all unfollowed Brooklyn and claiming that they had instead woken up to find themselves “blocked”.
In January, Brooklyn then released a lengthy series of Instagram Stories, in which he wrote that he wasn’t being ”controlled” by wife Nicola Peltz, and was “standing up for myself for the first time in my life” after his parents allegedly tried “to ruin” his and Nicola’s relationship.
Months later, Brooklyn appeared to mock his family feud in a DoorDash commercial, in which he joked about the “long story” that led to him not having tickets to the World Cup.
He is then seen handing a bag containing World Cup tickets to a DoorDash employee, saying: “These can go to someone… else. Put them somewhere fun.”
