Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has teased this year's Halloween episodes, describing them as more 'Final Destination' than traditional spooky fare. The actress, who plays Eva Price, spoke to Metro at the CureUsher ball, an event raising awareness of Usher Syndrome.
Eva's terrifying ordeal
Eva has endured a difficult year, dealing with her stepson Will Driscoll being groomed by predatory athletics coach Megan Walsh, family drama with partner Aaron Driscoll and his murderous mother Maggie, and a nasty fall after being pushed down the cellar steps. The last person expected to push her was Sam Blakeman, who had been harassed and bullied by Megan Walsh after trying to expose her abuse of Will, leading to a psychotic breakdown and being sectioned.
Sam pushed Eva down the stairs in a panic while searching for his phone. She lay undiscovered for some time until Debbie Webster found her, but Debbie's dementia meant it took a while before Eva could get help.
Behind the scenes
Tyldesley revealed the scenes were scary to film: 'It was very dramatic. Eva's not in a great way at the moment. You'll have to tune in to see what happens, but it's not looking great at the moment.' She added, 'I was on that floor for a long time. It was quite cold, as well!'
Teasing the Halloween episodes, she said: 'Halloween in the Rovers is always super fun. The hair and make up team and costume always do a phenomenal job, so it's great fun for us. And the writers are just smashing it as always. Some really exciting storylines coming, so watch this space!'
