Coronation Street star Alison King has shared what she'd like to see in Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain's future as she and co-star Vicky Myers teased what could be ahead for the couple this Christmas on the cobbles.
Fans of the couple, dubbed Swarla, are hoping to see some happiness for the pair in the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, this festive season, following quite the drama last year.
History-making wedding
Corrie viewers will recall that the couple officially tied the knot earlier this year in a history-making wedding, becoming the first two women to marry in Weatherfield.
But they will also recall that their big day followed a turbulent time that included the return of Lisa's ex-wife, Becky Swain, shortly after Lisa and Carla got engaged and moved into their first home, No.6 Coronation Street.
And it appears that both Alison and Vicky are hoping for happier times this Christmas, after a number of Corrie stars were seen filming the upcoming festive season in Weatherfield.
Christmas wishes and a cat named Marmalade
Speaking to Inside Soap about what they'd like to see for their characters, after picking up the 'Best Partnership' gong at the Inside Soap Awards 2026 for the second year in a row, Alison said: "Maybe we can do Christmas for once. A spin-off beach version of Christmas in Greece!"
Vicky continued: "Let's face it, last Christmas was an absolute disaster. They've had Christmas together, but it was off-screen, so it would be wholesome for the family to have a traditional Christmas. They can have bacon bagels, open presents and nip to the Rovers!" Alison then jokingly added: "I'd just be grateful not be locked in anything this year!"
And she was also suggesting a pet for the Connor-Swains could also be the next step. "I want a cat," Alison said. "The cat that used to go on the roof during the titles is iconic, and we have no cats. A ginger cat called Marmalade!"
It led Vicky to discuss a Swain cat, which was previously mentioned on-screen. But it seems like it's bad news. "There was a swain cat years ago. I happen to think that the cat passed away because it was never mentioned again..."
What's ahead for the couple
After Corrie fans were recently left calling for more scenes between Lisa and Carla, it seems they could get their wish as Vicky teased what's ahead for the couple as speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News at the Inside Soap Awards 2026, the Stockport-born actress told us: "They've got some stuff in the works, there's the domesticity as well and watching them grow as a couple and a family.
"Because there's obviously the aftermath of Betsy's [stroke] and rehabilitation and hopefully more with Ryan and the Connor-Swains, that would be really sweet."
She added: "But there's a lot of police things as well, with the Kit [Green] storyline. So there's a lot Lisa is trying to juggle. It's a really interesting dynamic between Lisa and Carla, and how supportive they are with each other. Because they're there for each other, they can be vulnerable with each other, and they can trust each other with everything that they do, which I think is a really beautiful thing. Who doesn't want a relationship like that?"
