Corrie star Grace flooded with support after Lily-Shona drama

Coronation Street star Grace Ashcroft-Gardner has been flooded with support from fans after sharing a behind-the-scenes look at her latest scenes, which saw Lily Platt end up in an emotional confrontation with step-mum Shona Platt.

The teenager joined the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, last year, having been recast in the role of Lily. The character is the daughter of David (Jack P Shepherd) and Kylie Platt (Paula Lane).

The young character has been played by several actors since being born in 2013, including two sets of twins. It's not unusual for characters' faces to change over the years, with new actors brought in to play existing roles, particularly when younger and growing up in front of viewers' eyes.

Lily caught in Platt family drama

In recent months, Lily has found herself amongst the Platt family drama, including that of Jodie Ramsey. Following her arrival earlier this year, which is when she was revealed as the long-lost sister of Shona, Jodie has since made herself comfortable at No.8 Coronation Street. However, she has also made multiple attempts to get between her sister and her husband, David.

Viewers have witnessed her seemingly make other Weatherfield residents targets of her unusual games, with them previously seeing that she holds onto a trinket box, containing different items she's taken from those she knows, including Bernie Winter-Alahan, Brian Packham and DS Lisa Connor-Swain.

In the summer, the trinket box was once again discovered by Lily, after the youngster previously came across the box, as did David's sister, Sarah Platt, who had arrived at No.8 after killing Theo Silverton to find the house trashed, only for Jodie to hit her over the head and leave her for dead.

Party ends in disaster

While Shona confronted her sister as Sarah came clean about who attacked her, she initially kicked her out before having a change of heart. But it left Lily worried, as she had earlier confronted Jodie about having a gun, which Jodie was quick to brush off. However, Lily went on to tell her dad she found the weapon in Jodie's trinket box, which he only knew existed as Sarah had mentioned coming across it before she was attacked.

Jodie managed to turn things around, getting Lily back on side and making her, and her parents, believe that the gun was fake. However, in recent weeks, Jodie has been upping her efforts to take over her older sibling's life, and after one of her latest acts was caught by Bethany Platt, the sinister character let Lily take the fall.

During Wednesday's (October 7) episode of Corrie, while Lily was distracted getting glam photos taken by Bethany for her Instagram account at Shona's party in the Bistro, Jodie swiped her phone and put the audio she had recorded of baby Harper crying to use to make Shona feel like she was suffering mentally, onto the teen's phone.

Fans praise Grace after scenes

As expected, it then played out on the speakers, with Lily having helped plan the part for Shona's 39th birthday and was in charge of the playlist for the event. Lily protested her innocence and David was seen taking his daughter's side, leaving Shona to later walk out of their home and spend the night in the Chariot Square Hotel.

Following the scenes, Grace took to Instagram with photos of herself in her dressing room, taken when Lily had dressed up for what ended up being the disastrous birthday party. "Tonight's ep [face holding back tears and heart emojis]," she captioned the post, before the comments came flooding in.
