The week has finally arrived in Coronation Street: Sarah Platt's (Tina O'Brien) murder trial is underway. With best friend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) and brother David (Jack P Shepherd) supporting her, glaring by his omission is ex-fiancé Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who's dealing with his own reality after undergoing his first chemotherapy session, and refusing to act as her witness. As her loved ones pile pressure on him, will Kit take the stand for Sarah? And if he does, can he secure her freedom?
Debbie's suspicions grow
As her dementia symptoms worsen, Debbie Webster's (Sue Devaney) relationship with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) continues to come under strain, and she ultimately suspects he's having an affair. Recruiting Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) to spy on her hubby, what will she discover?
It's not just Sarah facing the music over Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder, as Gary Windass (Mikey North) is also staring down the barrel, and as he's forced to warn his family that he may be looking at a prison sentence, his beloved son Jake (Bobby Bradshaw) flees. Can Gary convince him to come home?
Elsewhere, the battle lines are drawn between team Leanne Battersby and Idris Nazir (Jane Danson and Junade Khan) and team Nick Tilsley and Toyah Battersby (Ben Price and Georgia Taylor), Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) deals with school trolls and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) displeases his dad, Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield).
Sunday, October 11
Debbie is embarrassed when she announces that she's off to work, but Ronnie has to remind her that she'd booked the day off. Keen to protect her pride, Debbie pretends that she was unable to take a day off and is fully booked with meetings, and Ronnie plays along to protect her. At the hotel, Ronnie thanks Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) for sorting out some work for Debbie, but when she spies them talking and can instantly tell that they're discussing her, her hackles are instantly raised.
Leanne is confronted by a furious Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) at Speed Daal, who accuses her of giving her and the rest of the Barlows food poisoning, and while Idris holds the fort with a long line of complainers, Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) inspects the kitchen and finds that all of their meat is out of date. Leanne realises that Nick was responsible for their meat delivery and begins to suspect sabotage.
Elsewhere, Kit finally reveals his cancer diagnosis to Bethany after refusing to act as a character witness for Sarah, Gary's forced to tell Jake and Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) that he could be heading to prison, and someone attempts to hide their guilt when Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) dives deeper into the shooting at the Platts'.
Monday, October 12
As Kit prepares for his first chemotherapy session, Brody calls round, and Kit gets him to shave his head before the treatment has chance to take his hair. At the hospital, Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) supports Kit, as they discuss stories from his childhood. Later, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) calls at Kit's again and pleads with him to continue fighting, admitting that he's not ready to lose his dad and needs him more than ever.
When Gary gets a call from the school informing him that Jake has been suspended after a punch up, he finds himself facing his son's wrath for risking his freedom for Sarah and, with Gary and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) out later, he packs a bag and leaves. Meanwhile, Debbie is frustrated when she feels that Ronnie is treating her like a child and after a bust up with him at her lunch with Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), Asha recommends Ronnie join a dementia support group, while, after a compensation claim threat from Tracy, Leanne and Idris confront Nick.
Tuesday, October 13
Bethany pleads with Kit to tell Sarah the truth about his cancer, but he turns her down point blank and refuses. As Sarah declares that she understands why Kit is refusing to help her, Todd blurts out the truth when he and Bethany visit her at the prison. Desperate Bethany begs with Sarah to let Gary take the fall for Theo's murder, reasoning that she, Kit and Harry (Joshua Leavy) need her.
Gary calls Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) who confirms that Jake stayed the night there and plans to move in permanently and, meeting up with Jake later, Gary pleads with him to reconsider and come home, but Jake isn't for turning, leaving Maria to try and lift a heartbroken Gary. Also, as the bistro is bombarded by terrible reviews and cancellations, Nick and Toyah tell Leanne how bad things have become, and Debbie is upset to find a care home leaflet in the bin.
Wednesday, October 14
As she takes to the stand, the prosecution barrister tears Sarah's character apart and claims that she murdered Theo as revenge for what he did to Todd, and when Lisa and Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) are cross examined as witnesses, things get even worse. Incensed, David rails at Lisa and accuses her of sabotaging Sarah's defence, before turning his anger on Kit for his lack of support. His own temper flaring, Kit rallies back at David and tells him and Bethany that he wants nothing to do with their family ever again.
As Sam deals with some vicious messages about him on a school group chat, Nick tells Leanne that he can no longer afford a proper meat supplier and is relying on supermarket produce, leading her to suggest he cut his losses and sell the business. Concurrently, when Ronnie turns down an afternoon in bed with Debbie, she turns to Abi with her fear that he's cheating and planning to put her into a care home.
Thursday, October 15
Abi takes on the mission of trailing Ronnie for Debbie and after he excuses himself to head to a meeting, Debbie calls Abi and puts her to work. Her jaw drops when she passes Victoria Gardens and finds him with his arms wrapped around another woman and moves to confront him. Ronnie explains that the woman is from the dementia support group, and Abi pleads with him to tell Debbie the truth, but he refuses, unwilling to open up.
After some encouragement from Tyrone, Todd heads to court and after the prosecution savages Sarah again, he takes to the stand and defends her, before Bethany urges Kit to defend Sarah in court, for Harry's sake if not hers. Elsewhere, Toyah confronts Leanne and tells her that she knows that her and Idris are scheming to steal the bistro from Nick.
Friday, October 16
It's tense at the court as David and Bethany learn that Sarah's barrister called Kit and he refused to attend, while the prosecution goes at Gary. From prison, Sarah places an emotional call to Bethany, and requests that, should she be sent to prison, Bethany take custody of Harry. Heading home, Bethany applies pressure to Kit, urging him to do the right thing, and he agrees to take to the stand.
Idris takes advantage of Nick's presence at Speed Daal and needles him over the downturn in his business, and the fact that Sam chose to turn to him about his trolling rather than his dad, and later tells Nick to sell the bistro back to Leanne. Meanwhile, Debbie's upset when she tells Ronnie she's booked the honeymoon suite at the Chariot Square but realises she's double booked the room, Ross is annoyed when Tyrone turns down his idea for a weekly trip to the boxing gym with Dorin Pop (Henry Nye Meller), and Ken Barlow (William Roache) urges Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) to make use of a piece of land owned by the school, rather than allowing it to be sold.
