Corrie fans 'work out' Jodie Ramsay's fate after gun showdown

Coronation Street viewers believe they have worked out what lies ahead for Jodie Ramsay after she was shot in a dramatic gun showdown with her sister Shona and David on the cobbles.

Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) first appeared in January during the Corriedale crossover episode, before arriving in Weatherfield where she quickly revealed herself as Shona Platt's (Julia Goulding) long-lost half-sister.

Chaos on the cobbles

Since arriving, Jodie has integrated into life on the cobbles while creating considerable chaos - including attempting to seduce her brother-in-law David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd).

Beyond pilfering various belongings from neighbouring residents and concealing them in her enigmatic trinket box - including a firearm - Jodie also assaulted Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) on the evening of Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder.

More recently, Jodie has focused her attention on her sister Shona and newborn baby Harper, who has finally returned home following months of hospital care. Evidently disturbed, Jodie has been tormenting Shona through cruel psychological manipulation.

Gun showdown

Events escalated dramatically this week when Jodie's deceptions were uncovered, resulting in a firearm confrontation between Jodie, David and Shona. A frantic Jodie aimed a gun at her sister and brother-in-law, though they believed it wasn't real, reports the Daily Star.

Shona subsequently struggled with Jodie in an attempt to seize the weapon; however, a deafening bang suddenly rang out, revealing that Jodie had been shot. A distressed Shona then attempted to help Jodie as she collapsed onto the sofa, drenched in blood.

Fans predict a break

Fans are now convinced that, while Jodie is likely to pull through after being shot, a temporary departure from the cobbles could still be on the horizon for the troubled character.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: "Jodie won't die, but I can see her going away for a while to a mental hospital now everything has come out."

A second fan concurred: "Yeah, same, no way can she stay on the street." A third chimed in: "I thought that too." Adding to the sentiment, another wrote: "That'd make sense, she needs help."

Meanwhile, actress Olivia, who recently opened up about her troublemaking character Jodie, said: "Trouble follows her around like a bad smell. She is always caught up in the chaos."

"Whatever's going on, if there is any chaos in the street, she'll probably be at the heart of it. It's the way that she is. It's who she is. It's the way she has learned to deal with things. It's the way she goes through life."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
