Coronation Street viewers were far from impressed after working out Jodie Ramsey's fate during Thursday's episode, following a dramatic shooting twist on the ITV soap.
In the episode, Jodie pointed a gun at her sister Shona and Shona's husband David Platt. Believing it was a toy gun, Shona grabbed it, and a scuffle between the sisters caused it to fire, with the bullet hitting Jodie.
As Jodie fell to the sofa behind her, clutching her bleeding wound, Shona gasped. The shock of the gun firing, having been real all along, left her stunned as she called out to her wounded sibling.
Fans predict Jodie's survival
The episode ended with Jodie's fate up in the air, as she appeared to struggle to remain conscious. But fans already think they know if Jodie survives, claiming the cliffhanger has been ruined.
After recent reports suggested that actress Olivia Frances Brown had just signed another contract with the soap to play Jodie for another year, fans think she has to survive. Some fans did wonder though if this was a lie to trick viewers into thinking Jodie would be okay.
But most fans are unimpressed, believing the twist and the mystery of Jodie's fate has been ruined because "we know she doesn't die". Taking to social media, one fan said: "If only we didn’t know there’s another 12 month contract."
Contract news sparks backlash
Another fan said: "If only they hadn’t announced that Jodie had signed a new contract… it really diminishes that cliffhanger." A third fan said: "Such a shame that the cliffhanger has been tainted by the fact that Jodie's signed another contract."
Another viewer posted: "I don't know if they're playing us about her new contract like Emmerdale did with Mack but I have no questions about how she can stay in the show after this now." Meanwhile one fan said: "They've fumbled even this reveal because it's already announced she's signed another year's contract so we know she lives."
Just recently, The Sun reported that Olivia's contract had been renewed, while Digital Spy added that bosses "had big plans for Jodie" in 2027. The Sun said a source claimed: "Olivia has been a huge hit with the cast and crew as well as the bosses."
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
