Corrie fans think they've rumbled villain Megan Walsh's return reason

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out the reason for a villain's return, following reports that Megan Walsh will soon be back on the cobbles.

Actress Beth Nixon made her debut in the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, as Megan, and made her on-screen debut as an actress last year. Fans will recall that the new character arrived in Weatherfield after Will Driscoll went missing after his dad, Ben Driscoll, surprised partner Eva Price by moving to the cobbles to run the Rovers Return.

Teenager Will made it clear he did not want to leave his life behind in Hull, including his athletics training. But with the move already completed, it was suggested that Megan join the Driscolls in Weatherfield.

Grooming plot revealed

However, it was soon revealed to those watching that Will did not want to leave Hull because he was actually in a secret relationship with Megan as part of a shocking grooming plot, with the pair going on to sleep together just as he turned 16.

Months passed before the truth was exposed, which came when Sam Blakeman, who had sussed out what was going on and was being threatened into silence by Megan, ended up in hospital and eventually confessed what he knew to stepmother Leanne Battersby and her sister, Will's stepmother, Eva.

It took a while for justice to be served as Will backed up Megan's false story that he had an out-of-control crush she tried to shut down. In the end, though, after thinking he had been plotting an escape with Megan, Will finally told the police the truth, after an intervention by a neighbour and a local cab driver, Tim Metcalfe.

Sentenced to five years

When Megan denied all the charges against her, the case went to court, but in the end, she was found guilty on two charges, inciting a child into engaging in sexual activity, and while being in a position of trust, and it was later confirmed she had been sentenced to five years in prison.

Those scenes aired back in July, and while Megan is assumed to still be behind bars, it was reported this week that Beth is set to reprise her role and is on her way back to the cobbles to "explore another chapter of the grooming story", according to Digital Spy.

Fan theories on return

While Corrie has not confirmed the return, fans have already been speculating as to how Megan could be brought back into the picture. @Wee_Westie29 said: "What are the odds that when Megan returns she’s gonna be showing a baby bump. She’s been in jail for what, 3 months now, and she’s got 5 years to do, of she serves 40% of her sentence, she’d be out in 2028/29 #Corrie #CoronationStreet."

@DrSwarla2025 echoed: "She's pregnant and it's going to be a who's the daddy storyline between Will and Daniel. #corrie." @sam_Fletcher78 added: "It’s all going to kick off!"
