Corrie fans predict Sarah Platt's fate as trial looms

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out Sarah Platt's fate as a dramatic first look shows her taking the stand next week for the murder of Theo Silverton. The trial airs in the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, months after Sarah, played by Rusholme actress Tina O'Brien, confessed to killing the builder who had subjected her best friend Todd Grimshaw to months of abuse.

Theo's death and the investigation

Theo's lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor in April. It was not until a week after the wedding aired that it was confirmed Theo had died, after the murder was teased to be him and four other Weatherfield villains.

Theo's death triggered a murder investigation, with Corrie confirming his husband Todd Grimshaw as a suspect, along with his loved ones George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, as well as Theo's friend-turned-enemy Gary Windass and his ex-wife Danielle Silverton.

Sarah's confession and arrest

Weeks after the whodunnit got underway, flashback scenes aired in June revealed that none of the six were responsible. It was Sarah who appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground, before she called on her former flame Gary Windass for help.

Fans later watched as Sarah confessed the truth to Todd, while Kit remained determined to pin Theo's murder on Gary, not realising he had been covering for Sarah. That was until she confessed all to her copper beau, just as he was trying to pop the question.

Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo. She was later charged as the evidence stacked against her, and Sarah ended up admitting to the murder, telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was in self-defence.

Fans share their predictions

Now, after months behind bars on remand, Sarah will get the chance to fight for her freedom as she tries to convince the jury that she did not murder Theo in cold blood.

Corrie's new atmospheric promo shows a terrified Sarah in the dock whilst a voiceover calls her a "cold-blooded murderer". A frightened Sarah then says: "I think we need to prepare for the worst." Corrie spoilers for next week give more details about what is ahead, but will Sarah walk free from court, or will the jury find her guilty of murder?
