Coronation Street viewers are convinced a beloved character could be making a comeback to rescue Sarah Platt from her distressing time behind bars.
Sarah was taken into custody last month for the murder of villainous Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). The character, played by Tina O'Brien, killed abusive Theo back in April when she struck him with a metal pole atop scaffolding, causing him to plummet to the ground.
Although Sarah's corrupt police officer boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tried to help her evade justice, she was arrested on suspicion of Theo's killing. Initially, she maintained her innocence, but overwhelming evidence led DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) to charge Sarah with murder, resulting in her imprisonment.
Prison bullying escalates
While incarcerated, Sarah formed a friendship with fellow prisoner Kacey (Emma Matthews), though this connection quickly turned threatening. Aware of Sarah's previous involvement with police officer Kit, Kacey took advantage of the situation, reports the Daily Star.
She told Sarah that her son had been detained for armed robbery and insisted Kit intervene. When Sarah said she couldn't contact Kit, Kacey showed her true, menacing nature.
During Tuesday's episode (August 18), Sarah requested Kit visit her in prison, where she begged him to help clear Kacey's son of the robbery charges. Kit declined, and back in her cell, Sarah informed Kacey of his decision - leaving Kacey absolutely livid. She launched herself at Sarah, forcing her against the wall before hurling her onto the bed and storming out, leaving Sarah in floods of tears.
Fans call for Lou's return
Now, as Sarah endures a nightmare ordeal in jail, fans believe a former Weatherfield resident who's familiar with prison life could come to her rescue.
Following a Facebook post about Sarah and Kacey's prison drama, one viewer commented: "Bring back Farrel Hegarty to save the day," referencing the actress who portrays Lou Michaelis. Another fan agreed: "Yes get her back."
A third person added: "I was wondering about her! Who was the last Corrie resident Lou helped in prison?" with another viewer clarifying that she previously assisted Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) during her time behind bars.
Lou's history on the cobbles
Troublemaking mum-of-three Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) arrived in Weatherfield in February 2025 alongside her violent husband Mick (Joe Layton). After settling into Mawdsley Street, the problematic pair wasted no time stirring up chaos on the iconic cobbles.
It later emerged that Lou was suffering domestic abuse, with Mick frequently displaying violent behaviour towards his family. The situation escalated dramatically when Mick brutally killed beloved character Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) in a shocking drunken assault.
Subsequently, Lou's own dark deeds were uncovered when she attacked Gary Windass (Miley North) with a metal pole after he rejected her desperate attempt to blackmail him for money. Her crime was eventually discovered, leading to her arrest and imprisonment.
