Corrie fans ask 'is that goodbye' as Jodie star shares emotional statement

Coronation Street fans asked "is that goodbye?" after Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie Ramsey, shared an emotional statement. The actress burst onto the cobbles as part of the iconic Corriedale crossover episode. It didn't take long for Jodie to ruffle feathers, slotting herself into life at the Platts.

She soon moved into number eight as the lost and troublesome younger sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding). But Jodie soon set her sights on what she wanted, Shona's husband David (Jack P Shepherd). But that wasn't all, it turns out Jodie wants Shona's life and she'll go to any extent to get what she wants. In tonight's episode of the ITV soap, a gun shot rings out - but who has been shot?

Olivia's emotional one-year tribute

In the meantime, actress Olivia Frances Brown, who hails from Aigburth, has shared a post to mark one year on the cobbles. Fans flooded the post with supportive messages. Although Jodie isn't well liked among soap fans, it's clear Olivia has done a remarkable job.

Sharing some snaps from her time on set over the last 12 months, the 27-year-old said: "A whole year of playing the despicable Jodie Ramsey… safe to say she's ruffled a few feathers on the cobbles and by the looks of things a fair few beyond them too."

"It's a funny old job spending your days trying to find the heart in somebody who seems to have made it her life's mission to test everyone's patience. Playing someone so spectacularly unlikeable can be difficult at times. There's a strange vulnerability in pouring yourself into a character that people love to hate."

Fans react to the post

Taking to the comments on Instagram, one fan said: "Is that a goodbye? Have you left?" They added: "I was hoping they would turn Jodie around even though there's a lot of hate towards Jodie but I feel there's someone good in the character as well. It's been on the edge of your seat stuff this storyline. Well done @coronationstreet and Olivia you've been amazing."

Olivia hasn't confirmed her time on the cobbles has come to an end, with rumours of Jodie being at the heart of more storylines on the Manchester street. The official Coronation Street account also commented on the post, writing: "You have played a blinder with this character! Tonight's episode had us hooked!"

Co-stars show support

Junade Khan, who made his Corrie debut as Idriz Nazir earlier this year, said: "Absolutely smashed it hun, just seen tonight's episode, well done!" Lucy Fallon, who stars as Bethany Platt, said: "Bethany and Jodie enemies to lovers xxx."

One fan said: "Happy one year Olivia! You're smashing the role" and a second wrote: "Please never go anywhere!!! Obsessed!!!" Coronation Street airs weekdays at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
