Coronation Street Sarah's exit 'sealed' but she doesn't get sent to prison

Coronation Street fans are convinced Sarah Platt's exit is 'sealed' but believe she will not be sent to prison. The character, played by Tina O'Brien, is awaiting trial over the death of Theo Silverton, with her court hearing set to begin next week.

Sarah has faced a difficult few months on the cobbles. She is currently imprisoned following the fatal attack on Theo (James Cartwright), which occurred in April this year when she struck him with a metal pole atop scaffolding, causing him to fall to the ground below. After the incident, Sarah sought help from former flame Gary Windass (Mikey North) to conceal the crime. Despite efforts from her boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to help her evade justice, Sarah was detained on suspicion of Theo's killing.

Sarah's Trial Begins Next Week

She has been remanded in custody, where conditions have proven difficult, while awaiting trial. A fresh trailer depicts a petrified Sarah standing in the dock while a voiceover labels her a "cold-blooded murderer" and a frightened Sarah warns: "I think we need to prepare for the worst".

Discussing the storyline, actress Tina O'Brien commented: "Sarah is absolutely terrified; she has been desperate for this day to come but the reality of being brought up from the cells and standing in the dock is overwhelming. As the prosecution case is laid out she is not sure things will go her way."

Fans Predict a Brief Departure

While fans remain confident that Sarah will be acquitted and released, many believe a brief departure from the cobbles could be imminent. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer suggested: "Can't see Sarah getting sent to prison, but she'll definitely go see Gail when she's back," referencing her mum Gail (Helen Worth) who now resides in France following her departure from the soap in 2024.

A second agreed: "Yeah ofc, that's where they all go." A third wrote: "David was just there as well." Another viewer observed: "Don't think they'll get rid of Sarah by sending her to prison." A fifth noted: "Usually the actors take a break after a big storyline anyway."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
