Coronation Street fans predict Bethany pregnancy twist

Coronation Street fans are predicting a 'who's the daddy' storyline for Bethany Platt, with two potential suitors in the mix. Viewers believe a pregnancy twist could be on the cards for the character, played by Lucy Fallon.

Bethany made her ITV soap debut when she was born on-screen as the daughter of Sarah (Tina O'Brien). Over the years, she has been involved in several big storylines, from being groomed to having botched surgery. In recent months, her life has been particularly dramatic after Sarah was sent to prison for murdering Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

Fans tip Kit or Ryan as father

Since then, Bethany has been holding down the fort at home, looking after Sarah's son Harry while living with Sarah's now-ex-boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) after Sarah dumped him from prison. Kit was left devastated by the split and will face his own battles soon in a recent breast cancer storyline.

While some fans think Bethany and Kit are going to have an affair soon, the soap recently teased a new romance with someone else. In Thursday's episode (September 3), Bethany was seen having a moment with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who appeared to show his own interest in Bethany after saying a man she was heading on a date with would "be an idiot" if he decided she wasn't for him.

Viewers react to possible twist

With two potential suitors, fans reckon Bethany could be set for a pregnancy storyline. "Are Ryan and Bethany going to get together?" mused one person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. Someone else chimed in: "She'll probably sleep with Kit as well, get pregnant and won't know who the dad is."

A third wrote: "I'd put my money on Kit." Another added: "Yes to complicate things further."

Actress teases upcoming storyline

It comes after earlier this year, Bethany actress Lucy Fallon teased that an upcoming storyline would divide opinion. She said: "She does [have a big storyline coming up]. I can't tell you what it is, but it's not going to be great. I don't think people are going to be happy about it."

Lucy added: "This one is low-key her fault. Everyone is going to be like, 'She is a d***'. Which is fine." She then said she's happy to tackle any storyline "as long as it's a good one". Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
