Coronation Street fans baffled by Sarah Platt's prison glamour

Coronation Street viewers have been left puzzled after spotting an unusual detail involving Sarah Platt during her court appearance. The iconic character Sarah (Tina O'Brien) has endured a turbulent few months on the cobbles.

She is currently imprisoned after killing the villainous Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in self-defence. Sarah had fatally struck Theo in April this year, reports the Daily Star. She hit him with a metal pole atop scaffolding, causing him to plummet to the ground below. Sarah subsequently turned to former flame and friend Gary Windass (Mikey North) to help conceal the crime.

Despite efforts from her boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to assist her in evading justice, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of Theo's murder. Since then she has been remanded in custody - where she has faced considerable difficulties.

Trial begins

This week, her trial commenced. Sarah's relatives, including Bethany (Lucy Fallon), David (Jack P.Shepherd) and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), attended court and watched as Sarah stood in the dock.

The prosecution barrister informed the jury that Sarah had attacked Theo in defence of her best friend, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), after discovering the abuse he had suffered at his husband's hands.

Theo's former wife, Danielle (Natalie Anderson), gave evidence against Sarah, condemning her actions. Despite Sarah maintaining it was self-defence, proceedings appeared to be going against her.

Fans distracted by details

During Thursday's episode (October 15), the trial pressed on with Todd preparing to give evidence. Despite nearly failing to appear, he ultimately arrived at court and spoke openly about the abuse he endured from Theo.

Yet amidst all the courtroom drama, viewers found themselves distracted by a particular detail. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, audience members questioned how pristine Sarah's hair and nails appeared despite being held in prison.

"A French manicure on hands and feet in prison for Sarah! Plus her highlights are perfect! Oh please..." remarked one viewer. Another person agreed: "It's laughable isn't it."

A third viewer questioned: "Why has Sarah got a full face of makeup on? Has she rung up a MUA?" Sharing similar observations, another fan noted: "I noticed the hand and toenails manicure."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
