Coronation Street: Christina's drastic action after daughter's murder

Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) takes drastic action on Coronation Street as she grieves the daughter she never knew. The mother of Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) has been hiding a secret: she had a second daughter, the result of an affair, whom she gave up years ago.

That daughter, Rachel, was brutally murdered, and the prime suspect is her husband, Richie Parkinson (Nathan Sussex), who is currently in prison for the crime. Christina discovered this by accident while training on the digital filing system at the funeral parlour where she works with her boyfriend and boss, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). She was shocked to find the file of Rachel Parkinson, learning not only that the daughter she gave away was murdered, but that Rachel's daughter, Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin), Christina's granddaughter, was alive and living with Tim (Joe Duttine) and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) on the street.

Christina's discovery and Lucy's panic attack

Christina may be less keen for a family reunion when she discovers that Lucy might have killed her own mother. The traumatised teen suffered a panic attack recently, where Sally and Tim quickly comforted her. 'It's all my fault!', Lucy screamed in terror. The question is whether she was talking about the murder, which would tally with Richie's insistence that she 'stick to the story'.

One thing is certain: Christina is determined to be a part of her granddaughter's life while honouring her departed daughter in upcoming episodes. But her efforts may backfire. Christina watches as Lucy heads towards No.4. George urges caution but Christina ignores him and, painting on a smile, heads over.

Sally's warning and the missing ashes

Sally calls at the café and is unimpressed to find Lucy bunking off school and enjoying a drink with Christina. Sally orders Lucy home and parks herself opposite Christina. Sally agrees to speak to social services and take their advice, but spells out to Christina that until then she must keep her distance as Lucy is a vulnerable child.

At the undertakers, George and Todd are thrown into panic when they discover Rachel's ashes have gone and there's no sign of Christina. George finds Christina sitting on the swings in the precinct, clutching the urn containing Rachel's ashes. What will Christina do next remains to be seen.
