Channel 5 confirms extended second series of Sam & Ade Go Birding

Channel 5 has confirmed that the popular series Sam & Ade Go Birding will return for another instalment, with an extended run of six hour-long episodes. The first series, which aired earlier this year, saw friends Samuel West and Adrian Edmondson travel the UK to explore some of the best bird spots in the country.

Extended series confirmed

The broadcaster announced that fans will be treated to a longer second series, doubling the episode count from the original three. Speaking about the show getting another run, the All Creatures Great and Small actor was thrilled, joking that his plan to get his friend 'addicted to birding' had paid off.

Meanwhile, Adrian remarked it was a 'hard life' as he teased fans can expect to see more chats, more stunning views, more birds and of course, more trips to the pub.

New adventures ahead

A synopsis for the new series reads: "Samuel West and Adrian Edmondson return, once again exploring Britain's birdlife and landscapes with gentle humour, reflection and friendship at the heart."

Spanning the changing seasons, Sam & Ade Go Birding captures the natural world at its most dynamic - from spring's migratory birds and nesting season to the quieter, more contemplative months later in the year.

The last series saw them explore the likes of West Cornwall, North Norfolk and Somerset, while this time around they'll go from the cliffs of Yorkshire to the wilds of West Wales. They'll also take a trip to the remote isles and dramatic coastlines of Scotland to spot birds both big and small.

Production underway

From the likes of gannets, ospreys, red kites, puffins and guillemots, viewers are in for a treat this series. Production on the new series is already underway, though a transmission date is yet to be confirmed.

Kit Morey, Commissioning Editor, 5 noted: "It's no secret just how much I adore this joyful series...or how long I waited to make it, but the wait was so worth it as Sam and Ade have created something truly special - warm, funny, thoughtful and full of wonder."

"I was thrilled at just how much our audience loved it too... So, I couldn’t be happier to be working with Frank Films again to bring our viewers six more episodes of this beautiful, uplifting avian adventure". Sam & Ade Go Birding is available to watch on Channel 5.
