Celebrity Traitors fans took to social media on Thursday night (October 15) after comedian and presenter Joanne McNally made an inadvertent slip-up during the roundtable, leading fingers to be pointed in her direction.
The slip-up came as the hit BBC show returned for a second series after its successful first run last year. The game follows 21 celebrity contestants, the majority of whom are known as Faithfuls, as they try to identify the murderous Traitors among them, who eliminate players in the middle of the night. Stars compete to win a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.
Joanne's Roundtable Error
During Thursday's episode, Joanne, a Faithful, misspoke while responding to Ross describing the murdering events. She said "it was horrible", despite not being present at the time, which led other stars to wonder if she is one of the Traitors.
Fans were quick to react on X, formerly Twitter. @Carolanne17_ wrote: "Not Joanne throwing herself under the bus on accident", and @Claireyyyy said: "Why did Joanne say "it was terrible" when she wasn't there hahahahskdl girl pls"
Fan Reactions
@BarclayCard18 commented: "Joanne might be up there as one of the worst faithful ever. Wrong about everything and just messed up at the roundtable to put suspicion on herself"
@philipnolan1 wrote: "Mega slip-up by Joanne there, and she's not even guilty", and @ffionlewis97 said: "Joanne just through herself under the bus". @bethanlooms commented: "Joanne McNally just randomly making herself seem like a traitor for no reason whatsoever lmao"
Latest Banishment
Luckily for Joanne, the heat was aimed at Rachel Fry, who was the latest to be banished in another win for the Faithfuls left in the game. Stars who have already left the show include actor Richard E Grant, who was made a Traitor and was first to be banished, journalist and broadcaster Amol Rajan, who was murdered by the Traitors, actor Bella Ramsay, who was murdered, and American singer Myha'la and actor Julie Hesmondhalgh, who were also banished.
The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC and iPlayer at 8pm on Thursday and Friday evenings.
